Rushmore members love our Applegate Lake hike as an “E” FOR EASY adventure that meanders along the shores of this well-used but quiet water recreation area.
We will utilize the French Gulch-Payette Trail within the vast Applegate Lake trail system to weave our way 6.5 total miles, reaching a half-way lunch spot Rushmore calls Echo Pond — encased by ridges on all sides, this stop is the perfect time to yell, “Doooo Mooorrreeee, Livvveeee Mooorrree!”
If you want to explore more about the entire 13.5 mile trail system around the Lake, just ask Rushmore!
From a previous hiker: “Awesome trail following the lakeshore. Beautiful outlooks and numerous spots to jump in the lake to cool off in the hot summer months. Very peaceful. It is one of my favorites for trail running when you dont want intense hills (though there are plenty of hill options to go off on). My dog loves it too…of course she gets to swim a lot!! Very little foot/bike traffic.”
