Rushmore invites ALL our members to our famous Adventure Events in 2025!
Every month, Rushmore provides adventurous opportunities to get out and explore Southern Oregon.
This year includes 3 snowshoes, cosmic sledding, 3 rafting trips, Klamath Lake canoeing, Crater Lake Ziplining, rock climbing and mountain biking days, and our famous 16-hike series — so join us today!

Members, don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy the amazing Lake of the Woods Kite Festival!
We combine a dash of easy snowshoeing, then viewing giant colorful kites flying on the frozen Lake of the Woods, while munching on tasty bbq with fire pit views of Mt. McLoughlin!
Join in for all of it, or skip the snowshoeing, and meet us at the Kite Festival!

RUSHMORE KITE FESTIVAL BASICS:
WHO: Members & +1 Guests
VIBE: Adventurous – Colorful Fun
THE SNOWSHOEING: we start at Great Meadows Sno-Park for a flat 2 mile trek into the Lake of the Woods Resort.
Perfect opportunity to try out this wonderful sport.
THE FESTIVAL: If you’d like to skip the snowshoeing, and meet the rest of the Rushmore Team at the Kite Festival, no problem!
This popular annual event brings 1000’s of people to the Resort to watch giant, colorful kites fly on the frozen lake.
Expect amazing pictures, and yep, you can walk right out onto the Lake!
THE FOOD, MUSIC, FIRE PITS: the Resort provides delicious BBQ and entertainment during the Festival, making this a perfect Southern Oregon winter excursion.
IF SNOWSHOEING BASICS:
WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: Snacks – Water – Camera – Smile – Sunscreen – Hat – Lots of layers as you can begin cold, and heat up very quickly while ‘shoeing.
I’VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE: sweet, snowshoeing is pretty easy, and a great workout.
Our experienced leaders and walk you through the basics on the day of the event.
HOW DOES CARPOOLING WORK: if you have a snow-worthy vehicle, and wish to drive, awesome.
If not, we combine carpooling forces.
Carpooling is organized at the event connection point. Gas moneies are appreciated for drivers.
WEATHER CONDITIONS: outdoor adventures inherently require safe and fun weather and travel conditions. Rushmore may reschedule any outdoor adventure based on weather, travel or participation.

KITE FEST ‘SHOE SPECIFICS:
FITNESS LEVEL: Moderate
DISTANCE: 2 total miles, very flat
MEET: North Fred Meyers Parking Lot, in the northwest corner near the Locksmith Kiosk.
We connect, get organized, and leave roughly 15-20 AFTER then meet time.
COST: e-parking passes are $7, at Sno-Park
RETURN TIME: this varies based on weather and road conditions, we shoot for 4 pm depending on how the Festival is rolling.
EATS: BBQ eats are all over the Resort.
FULL ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
Our 2025 Winter Adventure series is designed to get you out the door, exploring and discovering Southern Oregon, while getting healthy and meeting new fun friends in the snow.
FITNESS LEVEL AND ROUTE: We cover 2 total miles, as we begin at Great Meadow Sno-Park, just outside of Lake of Woods Resort.
The route itself is entirely flat as we ‘snoe our way into the Resort.
Weather can play a BIG role in how challening any Adventure is.

WHERE TO RENT SNOWSHOES: For Rushmore snowshoe adventures, you must rent shoes BEFORE the event (usually the night before).

Get-N-Gear rents cross country and snowshoes. You can call them at 541-482-5181 (this is also a great place if you are looking for used gear, clothing, etc.)
