COMPLETE EVENT DETAILS:
This special MEMBERS-ONLY event is why you joined Rushmore!
MEET AT: the Luna Cafe parking lot at 5:30 pm to get organized. If you’ve got a snow-worthy vehicle and would like to be a driver, awesome! If not, hop in one as we carpool on up. We will depart at approx. 6:00pm.
WEAR and BRING: You will need to wear lots of layers — including a hat, gloves and solid, ideally water-proof shoes. Headlamp or flashlight is useful, but not necessary. Water is essential! And don’t forget your camera!
ABILITY: depending on conditions, snowshoeing can be a walk in the park or very challenging. This route is essentially flat. We will be doing a total of 5-miles, out and back to. If you can comfortably walk five miles at a brisk pace, you can complete this. If you have any questions or concerns, just ask us!
RENTING YOUR SHOES: We suggest the following local businesses to rent snowshoes from: Mountain Provision in Ashland. Blackbird in Medford & Southern Oregon University also rents shoes to both students (cheap!) and non-students (still cheap!).
WHEN TO RENT: GET YOUR SHOES SATURDAY! Check or call your rental location of choice to find out when is the best time to rent. Many places rent starting at 2pm until the next day.
COST: Usually runs about $10-15 at most shops.
WHERE IS BUCK PRAIRIE: A full moon lights our way as we experience the silent, dreamlike environs of the Buck Prairie trail, located about thirty minutes outside of Ashland, on route 66.
- Turn Left onto Indian Memorial Road. Continue on Indian Memorial Road for 12.9 miles.
- Turn Right onto Buck Prairie Road. This is the parking lot. A Sno-Park Permit is required to park here. Rushmore will purchase Sno-park Permits for all carpool drivers.
WHAT ELSE: Post-shoe reservations have been made at Standing Stone Brewery at 10pm. Come relive the adventure and have a burger!
GOT QUESTIONS: just message us if you have any questions about this Adventure.
