OUR SNOWSHOEING ADVENTURE:
GENERAL SNOWSHOEING: Snowshoeing is easy to learn, and can provide a great little workout to boot. We and our more experienced members can assist novice ‘shoers, so don’t be shy!
Our basic Buck Prairie Adventure is relatively flat, except for an early route climb. Multiple loops exist in the Buck Prairie trail system. We trek out 1.25 miles where we decide which way to go this year.
When conditions allow, we can venture out to the Puck’s Point for a spectacular Valley picture, or we can loop out to Natasha’s Web for downhill fun, or rise up for the Table Mt. Loop for southern views.
Options abound, and are based on weather, snowfall, and desires of that day’s group!
If you have questions about our route, required fitness levels, and general participation, just hit us up on Facebook or email.
As always, the Rushmore Society is a social networking organization, not an outdoor guide group, so shoe at your own risk.
RENTAL INFORMATION:
SNOWSHOE RENTALS: We suggest the following local businesses to rent snowshoes from: Mountain Provision in Ashland. The SOU Outdoor Program in Ashland. Blackbird Ski Shop and REI in Medford.
All have tons of rentals available.
WHEN TO RENT: Look to rent the evening before, as most shops open at or after our departure time. Check closing time of your preferred shop.
COST: Usually runs about $10-15 at most shops.
NOTES: Winter time conditions can change rapidly, and road or weather conditions may require a rescheduling of this event. Please check the FACEBOOK RSVP for the latest updates!
