Scratch off another item our your Southern Oregon bucket list this winter with the Rushmore as we adventure around the shores of the Lake of the Woods, starting and finishing a glorious day at the Resort.
Our 2022 series continues with fun and easy ‘shoe around Lake of the Woods. We’ll cover a moderate 4 mile out-and-back. The Reward; Mt. McLoughlin and Lake views.
ROUTE OPTIONS:
Our basic route begins at the Lake of the Woods parking lot and explores roughly 4 miles of lakeshore as we weave our way through alpine forests.
If conditions allow, you may even be able to shoe out ON the Lake.
CHALLENGE LEVEL: While you must be in good physical condition to complete this snowshoe, the route is almost entirely flat and moderate, but may contain a few small uphill climbs depending our the route we choose.
SNOW CONDITIONS: every year is different, and sometimes LOTW can have a minimal snow base. If this is the case, we can utilize this as a WINTER HIKE instead of ‘Shoe.
CARPOOLING: Have a snow-worthy vehicle? Want to drive? Drive yourself or hop in a snow-worthy vehicle.
This is organized at Luna (for Ashland travelers), or North Fred Meyers (for Medford travelers).
Both groups traveling from Ashland or Medford will ultimately meet at the Lake of the Woods Resort parking lot.
